10th Annual Run for the Animals!

Sunday, May 19, 2013 at 8:30 a.m.
Wheaton Regional Park, Wheaton, Maryland

Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary hosted its 10th annual "Run for the Animals!" The 5K run and 1 mile fun walk was a fundraiser dedicated to supporting the life saving work Poplar Spring does everyday. From the warm up, running and walking on the scenic trails, the dog and people raffles, the prizes, and the abundance of food, a good time was had by all. The race was held at Wheaton Regional Park in Wheaton, Maryland. Although dogs couldn't participate in the run, they were more than welcome to come out and join the 1 mile walk.

NEWLY REVISED COURSE! This year's course had been modified so that the first two miles are FLAT with a beautiful run through Brookside Gardens! Take a look at our course map.

Catered Breakfast In Celebration of Poplar Spring's 10th Annual Race!!
Not only did this year's Poplar Spring race have all of the delicious food that is served each year on race day, but in celebration of the 10th annual, we served a catered brunch, generously donated by Everlasting Life, V's Vegan Cuisine, Green Plate Catering, In The Raw With Soul, Tofu Delights and other great vegan restaurants and caterers with whom we are currently working.

The MC for the race was Lisa Berigan, radio host of BIG 100.3!!! Lisa has over 20 years experience hosting radio shows and is the proud companion to Daisy, a Sheltie mix. Click here to listen to an interview between Lisa and Terry Cummings, Poplar Spring's director.
