Rachel

Rachel

Rachel is a White Leghorn chicken who was rescued from an egg-laying factory farm in Ohio where she and thousands of other chickens were being kept in tiny wire cages. When a tornado came through and blew the roofs off of several of the barns, the power went out which supplied food and water for the animals. Many of the cages were crushed by the high winds, and live chickens were trapped inside cages with dead ones and left to starve. Animal rescue groups were able to save several thousands of these hens, and Rachel was one of the lucky ones. She will never have to live in a cage again, and spends her days walking around the farm, eating grass and bugs, dust bathing, and basking in the sun. Her favorite boyfriend is Nicholas the rooster, who she likes to sleep next to on a perch every night. Rachel loves grapes and rice, and enjoys getting them as treats.
